Focus will be on the creative process and the manipulation of the elements of time, space, and energy. Dance and Movement A.I.R.
Randee Paufve, Technique Class
Level: All
This class weaves together ideas about technique and performance by integrating rigorous technical movement with the art of expressive dancing. Built from a performance-oriented combination developed through shorter, modified sequences, we move from an easeful warmup into big, swooping, topsy-turvy dancing that plunges through space with rawness and refinement. With an emphasis on phrasing supported by exhilarating music, we access the bodily and spatial pathways necessary to dance the complex, detailed combination at the end of class. Students are encouraged to experiment with range and scope, to nurture a holistic sense of their bodies in motion, to cultivate a 360-degree awareness of space and to employ technique as a tool to support artistic expression.

There will also be lots of activities and materials offered that are easy to use in helping students successfully craft compositions from their improvisational explorations.
